Join us for Fair State’s Cooperates Book Club! We’ll have our first book club meeting on Thursday, 2/18 at 6pm and we’ll be reading the first half of Beyond Survival: Strategies and Stories from the Transformative Justice Movement.
For this first book club meeting, we’ll discuss Parts 1 and 2 of the book (pages 1-187). We’ll focus on Parts 3 and 4 of the book for our April book club meeting.
However, *you do not need to read all 187 pages to participate*! The book is an essay collection—feel free to read the essays that speak to you and skip the ones that don’t. We’ll have an open-ended discussion about which essays we particularly enjoyed, what we took away from them, and how we could imagine their lessons applied to our daily lives.
Closed captioning will be provided.
Beyond Survival is available locally from Moon Palace Books, Black Garnet Books, and Magers & Quinn, as well as from Bookshop.
This is the February event for our Justice block of Cooperates 2021 programming. We have a January workshop, February book club, March volunteer opportunity, and April book club and reflection.
