It has been a while. This is our first major bottle release of the year, and it features one of the biggest beers we have ever made. Neither of these beers will see distribution, taproom only. Svaðilfari, a brand new beer for us, is a 12.5% Barrel Aged Barleywine in the English Tradition. Löyly is the new name for a favorite, formerly known as Gesik. We will open a bit early, around 1:45, on Saturday June 15th. See you there.
Read more about these beers below:
Svaðilfari is an english-style barleywine that is bourbon barrel-aged, lightly smoked, incredibly malty, yet exceptionally dry.
Named after the legendary stallion that mated with Loki to sire Sleipnir. This is the barleywine that made it possible. We’ve been barrel-aging it ever since.
Löyly is a Minnesota take on a traditional Northern European Sahti. It is brewed utilizing a hand hewn kuurna (hollowed out log) with juniper branches and juniper berries. The beer takes its name from the Finnish word for the heat and steam that envelops you during a sauna. Many of us at the brewery have been known to enjoy extended sauna sessions while drinking Sahti.
