Barrel Theory Beer Company

Barrel Theory Brewing is a craft brewery in Saint Paul, Minnesota that was founded in 2017 by Brett Splinter, Timmy Johnson and Todd Tibesar. The name of the brewery is inspired by Liebig’s Law of the Minimum, which states that the capacity of a barrel is limited by its shortest stave. The brewery applies this concept to its quality-control philosophy, which is to only serve beers that they are proud of.

Barrel Theory Brewing has a taproom and a 10-barrel brewing system in a historic Lowertown building, as well as a 4,000 square feet limestone cellar for barrel aging. The brewery specializes in hoppy, sour, and dark beers, and offers a rotating selection of styles and flavors. Some of their flagship beers include Black Lotus, a milk stout with coconut and vanilla, and Rain Drops, a New England IPA with Citra and Mosaic hops.

Barrel Theory Brewing has received rave reviews from customers and critics alike, who appreciate its high-quality and diverse beers and its friendly and knowledgeable staff. The brewery has also won several awards and recognitions, such as being named one of the hottest breweries in America by Thrillist, one of the best new brewers in the world by RateBeer, and one of the best new breweries by USA Today, Hop Culture, Growler Magazine, Beer Advocate, and City Pages.
