Spilled Grain Brewhouse Colonial Ale Beer Release

Join us as we kick-off the celebration to Annandale’s 129th Annual 4th of July with the release of our Colonial Ale!

SGB is proud to present an historical ale based on what the Founding Fathers would have imbibed while writing that oh so important document in 1776. Using ingredients that would have been readily available in colonial times (corn, molasses, English hops/barley/yeast), we arrive at a beer that defies inclusion in contemporary styles.

With notes of caramel, biscuit, and toasted/burnt marshmallow, the drinker is subjected to a wide array of flavors on initial sip. The addition of corn helps thin out the body and create a lighter beer than the color or flavor/aroma suggest. Molasses then creates a rustic sweet finish that brings the experience full circle.
