Black is Beautiful- on tap and available to go in crowlers starting at 12pm on Saturday, October 3rd. Online pre-ordering begins at 9am at www.320togo.com.
Created by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio Texas, the Black is Beautiful initiative is a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. The mission is to bridge the gap that’s been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color.
This beer has a shared base recipe and has been brewed by 1,158 breweries in all 50 states and 20 countries.
Our version of Black Is Beautiful is an Imperial Stout coming in at 9.2% and will be available on tap and in crowlers.
Profits will go to two Minnesota organizations, Voices for Racial Justice and the Du Nord Foundation.
Voices for Racial Justice envisions a world without racism that honors the culture, knowledge, power, and healing of Black, Indigenous, and communities of color.
Long-term progress for racial equity requires effective organizing and resources that build leadership, relationships, power, and vision in Minnesota’s racial and cultural communities. Their strategies expand the power and effectiveness of community organizing and build a movement for racial, social, cultural, and economic justice.
Du Nord Foundation- After their distillery was burned in the Minneapolis Riots, Du Nord Craft Spirits, the first black owned distillery in the United States, started a fund to help minority owned businesses recover. The Du Nord Foundation was founded in June of 2020 to address racial inequities in the Twin Cities with a particular focus on economic disparities. The initial initiatives addressed two of the three pillars upon which the foundation was founded: immediate food security, and preservation of existing minority owned businesses. The third pillar, economic development aimed at empowering communities of color, is the focus of our ongoing effort to rebuild Minneapolis and St. Paul in a way that begins to build economic power and wealth through small business support and advocacy.
